BL04 (MSPD)

The BL04 (MSPD)beamline is dedicated to Material Science and Powder Diffraction (MSPD), specifically to high-resolution powder diffraction. An experimental end-station is equipped with a large heavy duty 3 circle diffractometer, with two detectors. It allows to efficiently collect high-resolution data by means of 13 analyser crystals and also to collect data very rapidly (for the study of chemical kinetics, phase transitions, etc.) with a micro strip detector system (MythenII) for time resolved experiments (down to a few ms timescale).

This beamline is also equipped with a second experimental end-station dedicated to experiments of diffraction under high pressure with diamond anvil cells and a charge-coupled device (CCD) detector. Crystalline structure of matter under extreme pressure (up to ~50 GPa) can be analysed.
