Our light sources go far beyond conventional characterisation techniques - characterising materials at the atomic, nano- and microscales, imaging structures and defects hidden deep within materials, using static, time-resolved and in-situ studies. We can look inside real materials under real conditions, supporting commercial R&D with unique insights for new and smarter products.

CALIPSOplus is a European project aimed at removing the barriers that prevent access to world-class, accelerator-based light sources. It includes dedicated networking to support bringing industry and light sources together.
There are 22 light sources in the CALIPSOplus network located all over Europe and the Middle East. All are generally open for industry to exploit - by proprietary access and often by peer review applications based on scientific excellence. CALIPSOplus is enabling 10 of them to be open specifically for SME access using European support.
CALIPSOplus is providing resources for the partner light sources to be more active in their Regional innovation ecosystems - light sources can educate, train, visit, provide feasibility access and more for local companies, large and small supporting "business within walking distqance". CALIPSOplus is funding a unique pilot access programme that is tailor-made for SMEs through a programme called "TamaTA", which SMEs can apply for using a very simple form at our dedicated TamaTA portal. The call is closed. Next call will be open soon.

Five European H2020 projects and three Regional projects get together to work with industry. The resulting "European Analytical Research Infrastructures Village" (www.eariv.eu) has produced a brochure showing off the capabilities of European analytical research infrastructures for industrial R&D. Second-to-none worldwide, the European research infrastructure portfolio provides material characterisation facilities going far beyond those available in labs and almost all are open for industry to exploit.
