ID30B - Tunable and variable focus macromolecular crystallography

ID30B is a high intensity, tunable (6 to 20 keV) and variable focus beamline that is dedicated to macromolecular crystallography that comenced user operation in June 2015. The vertical focusing is achieved through Be compound refractive lenses and the horizontal focusing is performed using an eliptical mirror. The beamsize at the sample position can be varied between 20 and 200 micron in diameter and cleaned using beam definition apertures.

The experimental setup is composed of a MD2S diffractomterer capable of collecting data from samples mounted in conventional sample holders at cryogenic temperatures and in situ from crystallisation plates. We currently have a modern Pilatus 6M-F pixel array detector installed for routine and complex data collections. ID30B is further equipped with a new generation FlexHCD sample changer that is capable of mounting samples in either SPINE or Unipuck standard formats. In addition we have a KETEK X-ray fluorescence detector and MK3 goniometer head for the optimal collection of anomalous data.
